Emergency Relief

The Emergency Relief Program provides financial and/or material support to Queenslanders in financial crisis. The program is funded by the Government. The Wynnum Community Hub can provide immediate temporary relief to those who need a hand up, and can also connect you to other community organisations that can further support you.

Information and Referral Service Forms Assistance

The Y Wynnum Community Hub provides a free service to help community members correctly complete both paper and online forms. These forms include Centrelink forms, Medicare forms, housing applications, application forms and any other general forms.

Personal Counselling

Every Thursday by booking

In partnership with Change Futures, free one on one, face to face counselling sessions with a provisional or general psychologist are offered at our centre on Fridays. 10 free counselling sessions per person are available (bookings are essential) for children, young people and adults. The counselling service is provided for anyone who is experiencing mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, gender and identity issues, intimacy issues, impacts of natural disasters, adjustment issues, coping with change, workplace stress & anxiety, personal development and career adjustment and transition.

Please be advised that for the eligibility criteria, every client must have a mental health care plan from their GP in place by the 3rd counselling session.

JP Services (Justice of Peace Services)

Thursday 10AM - 12PM (not on public holidays)

A complimentary Justice of the Peace service is available at YMCA Wynnum Community Centre every Thursday from 1PM to 3PM.

Financial Counselling

Every Tuesday (by appointment)

Good Shepherd’s Financial Wellbeing and Recovery Program (FW&R) is a free, non-judgemental, and confidential service offered at the Y Wynnum Community Centre.

The Good Shepherd Financial Resilience worker provides support in:

  • understanding finances
  • budgeting & prioritizing expenses
  • identifying financial risks
  • absorbing financial shocks
  • improving management of money
  • establishing savings
  • accessing No Interest Loans (NILS)
